I had my initial phone call with a Surrogacy Is advocate on Thursday February 8, 2024 at 5pm EST. The call was scheduled for 45 minutes, but it took a little over 1 hour.
During the phone call, the advocate asked me a series of questions including:
Why I want to be a surrogate
How my first surrogate journey went
Information about each pregnancy (my children and surrogate child)
General medical history
Family and household information
My education and career information
The purpose of this initial phone call with the advocate was to create my profile. The profile would be sent to the agencies that Surrogacy Is works with. These agencies would be able to review my profile and decide if they would like to work with me.
The advocate let me know, in order to complete my profile she would need approximately 10 photos. These photos could be of just me, of my family, me and my husband, me and my kids, etc. She said they could be selfies, from vacations, really anything. These are the photos I submitted for my profile:
Before we ended our phone call, the advocate explained next steps. She explained, once I sent her the photos, she would complete my profile and send them to the agencies to review. Then within 1-2 weeks, I would hear from someone else at Surrogacy Is to have my agency options call. The purpose of the agency options call is to review which agencies reviewed my profile and decided they would like to work with me.
I sent the photos to the advocate via email and via text the night of February 8, 2024. On Friday February 9, 2024, the advocate text me an update stating she received my photos, finished my profile, and sent it to their agencies to review. My next step was to wait to hear from someone else at Surrogacy Is to review my options.
